Father Christian is 95 years young!

Each year the community celebrates the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on September 14th and on the same day celebrates the anniversary of the nativity of our Father Christian. With retreat falling this week our birthday festivities were modest. But Mr. Tom Lockhart, dear friend of Father Christian and the Mepkin community, was once again able to be with us for a few days. And once again graced us with a wonderful cake to mark this moment of passage in the life of Mepkin’s second abbot. As the accompanying photo attests, Sr. Jeanne Margaret McNally, RSM, of Belmont, North Carolina, was also able to travel to Mepkin to honor Father Christian and pray with us for a few days. How fortunate we are that Father Christian remains so energetic and generous. Please continue to remember him and all of us in your prayers.
