Father Stan Returns to Thank Rehab Team
July 23rd, 2009

On Wednesday, July 22, Father Stan returned to personally thank all those who helped him in his rehabilitation from his broken leg. Most of Team 4, who cared for him during his stay at Roper Rehabilitation Hospital, are pictured above. It was a very emotional and warm reunion. “Without them I would still be far from well,” he says.
During a visit to his surgeon after this reunion, the surgeon pronounced that Father Stan could now put full weight on his broken (and mended) leg. So he now begins the final stage of his recovery, learning how to walk again on both legs! Once again, he is so very grateful for all the prayers and cards he has received over these past five weeks.
Update:
On Monday July 27, Father Stan and our RN, David George, made presentations of a community photo of the monks of Mepkin Abbey to our friends at Roper/St. Francis. These people have been so helpful to us over the years–and continue to be so in the recent past with the long hospital stays of Fathers Richard and Stan–that we felt we owed them a special gift.
The first presentation was to David Dunlap, the CEO of Roper/St. Francis. David has been a friend for several years now and is leading this hospital with great vision and distinction.
The second presentation was to our friends at the Roper Rehabilitation Hospital, the eighth floor of Roper Downtown, where Father Richard stayed last fall and where Father Stan just spent 17 days in June and July. They both received excellent and professional care from an incredible staff.
