Brother Rodney enters Mepkin
Rodney Odom has entered Mepkin as a postulant.Known to many because he had lived with us for a long observership, Brother Rodney wore his white postulant attire for the first time when he came to Vespers on May 18.
Born in Philadelphia, Rodney was educated in local public schools there and went on to enter the Navy. His military career strengthened his interest in science. And he went on to receive a degree in physics. With time he gave up his house and business, simplifying his life, as he sought a deeper relationship with God.Rodney’s long interest in monastic life fed a search for God that led him to enter RCIA classes and be received into the church in 2008.Over the last three years, he visited Mepkin several times to share our life of prayer. With time he asked to come to live with us as an observer and discerned that he wished to apply to enter.Rejoice with us in our new Brother.
