Fr. Richard Returns to Mepkin
We are delighted to have back with us Fr. Richard McGuire, Mepkin’s former prior of over 20 years. After 15 years of serving as chaplain to our sisters in Ecuador, Fr. Richard returned to the states for health reasons 8 weeks ago. Upon improvement through rehab, he was released yesterday to continue recuperating in the care of the brothers at Mepkin under the supervision of our nurse, David George. Please remember him in your prayers as he continues to regain his strength.

Moncks Corner, S.C.— Abbot Stanislaus Gumula received his blessing as the fourth abbot of Mepkin Abbey from Bishop Robert J. Baker on the Feast of the Epiphany, Sunday, January 7 at 2 p.m. in the abbey church which was filled with friends and benefactors of the monastery.
At the end of the Eucharistic celebration which included the Abbatial Blessing, Dom Stan said to the congregation which included friends and benefactors of the monastery as well we staff members, neighbors, and business associates, “I am here for you. Mepkin is here for you.”
