An exhibit of 42 unique crosses to be on display in Mepkin’s library
“CROSSES: A Visual Display of This Enduring Symbol” will be featured in the Mepkin Abbey Library Feb. 22 through March 30.
This exhibit features 42 unique crosses using interesting interpretations and many different materials.
The Rev. William L. (Roy) Hills Jr., the Priest-in-Charge at St. James Santee Episcopal Church in McClellanville, created the exhibit. When COVID-19 struck in 2020 and interrupted regular church work, he took a sabbatical. He enjoys woodworking and, while tinkering around in his workshop, he began making crosses. Finding this to be “good therapy,” the exhibit is the result.
The exhibit is a part of regular tours at Mepkin held Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
