Brother Benedict receives the novice habit
After we finished praying first Vespers of the Solemnity of All Saints, the Mepkin community gathered in the chapter room with our postulant, Brother Pablo, to pray with him as he received the novice habit. He will now be known as Brother Benedict. We know you will keep him in your prayers as he advances in his monastic journey, having accepted God’s call to live this life of ceaseless prayer, offering prayers of praise, thanks and intercession. In his remarks, Father Joe shared how Brother Benedict came from Mexico to the United States, lived in Florida where he had a painting business for many years and participated in his parish prayer group. That commitment to prayer, which eventually brought him to come on retreat at Mepkin, and with encouragement from his spiritual director, his vocation unfolded. You can be sure Brother Benedict will be praying for you and we hope you will ask God to give him the grace of perseverance.
