Dennis Nelson, Our New Garden Volunteer Coordinator
Dennis Nelson has been appointed to replace Craig Clarkson as coordinator of the Mepkin Garden Volunteer Program. Dennis has lived most of his life in Moncks Corner, as his father was in the Air Force and retired to Charleston in 1969. He has been a volunteer at Mepkin for ten years. He and his wife Jamie, are famous at the Abbey; they make the beautiful wreath for the Crèche Festival each year. Sadly, there will be no Festival to celebrate this 2020.
Speaking to Father Columba, Dennis said he was very grateful to be part of a wonderful group of volunteers who are the backbone of all the work that happens at the Monastery. He’s looking forward to helping to direct the volunteers and to continue the tradition of Craig and Dottie Rhoddy. He also said that he’s looking forward to developing the Mepkin Memorial Garden, which was recently begun.
