Easter 2026

Each Easter Sunday at mass those in the community who have professed vows are asked to come before the assembly and renew their commitment to living contemplative monastic life. The abbot leads us with these words and asks the following questions.
“At the Paschal Vigil we renewed our Baptismal Vows. At this Day Mass we renew the vows of our ‘second baptism’ – monastic profession.”
- My brothers, through baptism you are already dead to sin and risen in the Lord. Will you now unite yourself more closely to Him through the bond of monastic commitment? response: I will
- Will you strive constantly for perfect love of God and neighbor and zealously follow the Gospel and the rule of our Father Benedict as lived in this monastery? response: I will
- Will you by the grace of the Holy Spirit, spend your life with your brothers persevering in prayer and in generous service? response: I will
- In faithful obedience to Christ, will you live out your life in this monastery, participating in the Passion of Christ so that you may share in His Resurrection? response? I will
- Christ calls you to follow Him. Will you now respond to this grace by renouncing all possessions as well as marriage for the sake of the Kingdom? response? I will
- Will you remain open to the constant search for god together with your brothers, faithful until death? response? I will
- And may God who has begun this area work in you, bring it to full perfection on the day of Christ Jesus. response? Amen
Grateful for all your support, these words are shared with you to give you a sense of how our life is ordered and what we are committing ourselves. Your prayerful concern for us and the many ways you show us support mean a great deal to us and encourage us to live this way of ceaseless prayer – offering God praise – offering God thanks – and offering prayers of intercession for the church, the human family and especially those who are in need.
