September Book Review
September Book Review with Father Columba
The new book which the monks have begun in the refectory is Richard Rohr’s The Universal Christ. Father Rohr is a well-known author and Franciscan priest who is the director of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this book, Father Rohr tackles a topic that he has never written about before-Jesus. Most people know who Jesus is, but who is “the Christ?” Is this word simply Jesus’ last name? Too often, Rohr writes, our understanding is limited by culture, religious debate, and the human tendency to put ourselves at the center. Drawing on scripture, history, and spiritual practice, Richard Rohr articulates a transformative view of Jesus Christ as a portrait of God’s constant unfolding work in the world.
Why not get a copy of this book and join the monks of Mepkin in reading it?
