Small reflection by the vocation director Father Kevin
As we pray Vigils at 4 AM each morning there are prayers that accompany the psalms at dark vigils which can prompt a deeper thought and through the day are a point for reflection. Recently we heard these words before hearing psalm 2 proclaimed: The man said to Abraham, “Where is your wife, Sarah?” And he said, “There in the tent.” Then one said, “I will surely return to you in due season, and your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent entrance behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced stage; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. So Sarah laughed to herself.” God proves again and again that God can accomplish what we might think is impossible. It is important to realize that God is constantly bringing about new life. Sarah is not disrespectful in her laughter, but she is only looking at the situation from her perspective. And God often has a different perspective. As we are present to what is before us let’s always keep in mind, what is the newness God bringing about?
