St. Francis Retreat Center and the Fr. Francis Kline Memorial Chapel were dedicated August 25, 2013

Mepkin Abbey dedicated the St. Francis Retreat Center and Fr. Francis Kline Memorial Chapel on Sunday, August 25 with a Concert in the Abbey Church, and a Dedication Liturgy on the grounds by the Retreat Center and Chapel. About 350 people attended the event, including Fr. Francis’s family.

Eucharist

The Concert

  • A concert was held before the Dedication Liturgy
  • Messiaen’s The Quartet for the End of Time was performed by Charles Messersmith, clarinet; Yuriy Bekker, violin; and Julia Harlow, piano. This was followed by Durufle’s Requiem, Op. 9 with Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt, conductor; Dr. Robert Taylor, choir preparer; Dr. Hennifer Luiken, mezzo-soprano; Ellen Dressler Moryl, cello; and Dr. Scott Bennett, organ.

Dedication Liturgy
