January Refectory Book
For their January refectory book, the monks are reading The Search for God: Conferences, Lectures, and Homilies by Bernardo Olivera OCSO. Bernardo Oliver speaks of a deep experience and rootedness in the Cistercian tradition, where he was Abbot General for many years. A native of South America, he is solidly grounded in the monastic tradition, especially in the writings of his namesake, St. Bernard of Clairvaux. He articulates the Cistercian Charism, not just for monks, but for others who are interested in the Cistercian Way. Dom Bernardo is regarded as a prophet within the order, and his writings are enlivening and challenging. The book is published by Cistercian Publications.
