Mepkin hosts monks and nuns from across US for “Renewing the Depths” retreat
A retreat week for solemn professed monks and nuns of the US Region was held July 15-19. The theme was “Renewing the Depths.”
Tending the contemplative attitude, Brother Don Bisson, a Marist Brother, led the religious in exploring aspects of the human condition which open us to the grace of transformation. Brother Don developed his presentations with these topics.
Day 1- Discerning the Voice
Day 2- Spiritual Life/Shadow /Evil
Day 3- Love Wound and Cure
Day 4- The Numinous
Day 5- Consciousness and the Unitive Path
Brother Don invited the participants to examine their spiritual journey that is so intertwined with their human development. This helped all to come to a deeper understanding of their life and call and aided all to see ways to continue growing in what God is inviting them to embrace at this time in their religious life.
Participants came from Holy Cross Abbey, Our Lady of the Angels, Mount St. Mary’s and New Clairvaux and the Mepkin community.
The renewal week was sponsored by the Southeast cluster: Berryville, Conyers, Crozet and Mepkin Abbey.
