News from Esmeraldas, Ecuador

As we return to Ordinary Time, the highlight of our Paschal Season was undoubtedly the transfer of stability to Esmeraldas by Sister Mercedes. Originally from Argentina, she entered our monastery of Hinojo there in 1995 and was sent as one of the founders of their foundation of Juigalpa in Nicaragua in 2001. After fulfilling many important roles in this foundation, she came to our monastery in Ecuador in 2017. She is just 50 and is in charge of all the upkeep of the grounds here, daily assigning the tasks of our worker, Paul, and the sisters in this vast enterprise. She herself is the hardest worker of them all. It is an incredible task and she fulfills it with grace and humility.
